The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
