The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
