The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
