The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
