The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
