The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
