The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
