The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
