The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
