The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
