The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
