The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
