۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds - for them is a reward that will never end. 25
