The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
