The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
