The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
