The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
