The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
