The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
