The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 will be easy, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
