The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
