The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
