The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky with its constellations, 1 by the promised day, 2 By the witness and the witnessed! 3 destroyed were the people of the trench, 4 Of the fuel-fed fire, 5 They sat by it 6 And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 They had no other reason for hating them except that they believed in God the mighty, worthy of praise, 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Surely for those who persecute believers, men and women, and do not repent afterwards, is the punishment of Hell, and the punishment of burning. 10 As for the righteously striving believers, they will live in Paradise wherein streams flow. This is the greatest triumph. 11 The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! 12 Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). 13 And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, 14 Owner of the throne, the Glorious 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 of the Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)! 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22
True are the words of God the Almighty.
