The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
