The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
