The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
