The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
