The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
