The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 it is not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
