The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and so am I: 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
