In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
