The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
