The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
