The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
