The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
