The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
Almighty God's Truth.
