The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
