The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
