The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
