The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 it is no merriment. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
