The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
