The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
