The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
