Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
