Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
