Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
