Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
