Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And linen spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
