Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
