Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
